Frankfurter Gründerpreis (2018)

The Council for Economic Development of the City of Frankfurt awards the “Frankfurter Gründerpreis” every year to three outstanding Start-Up companies from the region. In the 2018 awards, awamo ranked 2nd.

European Youth Award (2015)

The European Youth Award (EYA) is a pan-European contest to motivate young people, social entrepreneurs and start-ups to produce digital projects with impact on society. It demonstrates their potential to create innovative solutions with Internet and Mobile technology addressing the goals defined by the Council of Europe and Europe 2020. The EYA is under patronage of the Council of Europe, UNESCO and UNIDO, the UN’s Industrial Development Organization.

Landmark in the Land of Ideas (2015)

awamo and its microfinance management
solution are named “Landmark in the Land of Ideas” 2015. The competition’s motto for this year is “Urban Space. Rural Space. Cyberspace!”. With this prize, the initiative Germany – Land of Ideas and Deutsche Bank award ideas and projects which successfully contribute to driving digital change. With its microfinance management
solution awamo delivers a significant contribution for a connected world by improving access.

GSBI online program (2015)

awamo was among the 18 organizations in the Global Social Benefit Institute’s (GSBI®) sixth online cohort. Every week for 6 months from June to December 2015, awamo’s executive worked with two Silicon Valley executive mentors to strengthen its business model and growth strategy and improve operational planning, metrics, and financials. For awamo this has been a great opportunity to get in touch with experts who have plenty of experience in setting up and scaling social impact business models as well as to have access to GSBI’s pool of early and later stage impact investors.

ICT Innovation Award by the German Federal Ministry for Economy (2015)

During the award ceremony of startup competition “IKT innovativ” (innovative ICT) Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy, Brigitte Zypries, named awamo (at that time still BCB Biometric Credit Bureau) one of the 17 winners. awamo convinced the reputable jury its IT solution-based business model has the potential to improve access to finance for millions of people in sub-Saharan Africa by reducing lending risk and lowering transaction costs. More than 250 startup companies participated in the contest.

Top 20 industry software“ by german SME initiative (2015)

awamo’s Mobile Office solution and Management Information System were named Top 20 industry software at this year’s IT innovation award 2015. The prize is awarded by Initiative Mittelstand – an initiative promoting Germany’s SME sector. The award does not target startups and awamo (at that time still BCB Biometric Credit Bureau) competed with more than 300 SME companies who have been active for several years.

Social impact lab scholarship (2014)

In February 2014 awamo (at that time still BCB Biometric Credit Bureau) won an 8 months scholarship for the “AndersGründer” program by newly opened business incubator Social Impact Lab Frankfurt. This program is funded by KfW Foundation and has been designed to support entrepreneurs addressing social issues. It comprises a co-working space in Frankfurt/Main, Germany, coaching, access to relevant networks, PR support and more.

Winner innovation award by e-finance lab (2014)

E-Finance Lab is a cooperation between Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Technical University of Darmstadt, and a network of industry partners. Following submission of documents awamo (at that time still BCB Biometric Credit Bureau) was short-listed together with three other FinTech startups and won the final pitch.
